Personal Training
Feathers N' Flight offers HI / FIT style training (High Intensity / Functional Integrated Training). There are three major components to this type of training:
Strength Training
When properly performed, strength training can cause the body to undergo dramatic changes with minimal time investment. With a steadily progressive program of weight lifting, incorporating all the major muscle groups and adding just a little more weight with each workout, it is possible to achieve body reshaping, fat loss, improved cardiovascular conditioning and even improved energy levels.
Stability Training and Functional Training
Focusing on the shoulders, hips, knees, ankles and most especially the core, this type of training builds your body's stability to prevent injury. The more stable your core is, the more effective other excercises will be. In addition, functional training includes various small, everyday type movements (bending over to pick up a basket of laundry, climbing stairs) under light and heavy loads, which improves coordination by encouraging your body to function as a whole unit.
Cardiovascular Conditioning
A properly designed strength-training program can achieve cardiovascular conditioning just as well as an aerobic workout. By continually pacing and keeping the body moving in between weight lifting sets, the heart and lungs are challenged to keep working. A good cardiovascular system increases the body's circulation, which in turn improves endurance and allows the body to perform more intensive work for longer periods of time.
Each total workout should be no longer than an hour, and clients should take at least 48 hours between each workout (and occasionally up to 72 hours) to avoid overtraining, which slows down the rate of gains and suppresses the immune system. This type of training works the entire body on the same day, and does not split into body-parts, so that the body is encouraged to function as a whole rather than in "pieces."
As this is a fairly new service, Feathers N' Flight will offer two types of personal training: the traditional hands-on accompaniment throughout each workout, or simple consultations to develop goals and workout plans, with the actual workouts themselves being left up to the client.
